ETA-IL questions

What is ETA-IL?

ETA-IL is an electronic travel authorization for eligible visa-exempt travellers visiting Israel.

When did ETA-IL become mandatory?

It became mandatory for eligible travellers on 1 January 2025.

How long is ETA-IL valid?

It is normally valid for up to two years or until the linked passport expires, whichever occurs first.

How long can I stay?

A visit is normally limited to 90 days, subject to the entry conditions set at the border.

Does ETA-IL allow multiple entries?

Yes. A valid ETA-IL normally permits multiple trips during its validity.

How long does processing take?

A response is normally provided within 72 hours. Apply at least 72 hours before travel.

Does every child need ETA-IL?

Yes. Every traveller, including an infant or child, needs a separate authorization.

What document must I upload?

Upload the complete passport biographical page, including the machine-readable zone.

Can I work with ETA-IL?

No. ETA-IL is for eligible short visits and does not authorise employment or long-term study.

Can I correct information after submission?

Material information generally cannot be corrected after submission, so a new application may be required.

Do Moldovan citizens qualify?

Moldovan citizens generally qualify when travelling with a biometric passport; different rules apply to non-biometric passports.
